A person who has had traumatic brain injury may develop aggressive and violent behaviors that may be difficult to control.
Clinical features:
(1) irritability
(2) agitation or restlessness
(3) low frustration threshold (easily frustrated)
(4) explosive and/or violent behaviors that occur spontaneously or to a minimal stimulus
The outbursts can result in:
(1) damage to property
(2) physical injury to others
(3) physical injury to the patient
(4) fear or apprehension in others
A severely affected patient may need to be institutionalized.
