Description

Gill et al developed a scale for grading disability associated with bathing, one of the core activities of daily living (ADL). It can be used to monitor the effectiveness of interventions aimed at enhancing bathing independence. The authors are from Yale University.


Tasks involved in bathing:

(1) getting and using bathing supplies

(2) getting undressed

(3) turning on the water and getting it to the right temperature

(4) getting into the bathing position

(5) washing the entire body

(6) getting out of the bathing position

(7) drying off the entire body

(8) getting redressed

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 32

• The higher the score the greater the disability.

 

Performance:
