Harrison used the test dose technique for predicting the infusion rate of rocuronium to provide neuromuscular blockage during surgery. This can reduce the guesswork in managing the individual patient. The author is from Auckland Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand.
Dosing:
(1) loading dose of 1 mg per kg IV
(2) 10 mg bolus administered after T1 of the train-of-four returns to 5% of control
Target: infusion rate to keep the T1 of the train-of-four in the range of 3-7% of the control
