Webster et al developed the Brisbane Maternity Social Support Scale (MSSS). This can help to identify a woman with low social support following delivery. The authors are from the Royal Women's Hospital in Brisbane, Australia.
Patient selection: postpartum female (study performed at 16 weeks after delivery)
Parameters:
(1) support from good friends
(2) support from family
(3) support husband/partner
(4) conflict with husband/partner
(5) feeling of being controlled by husband/partner
(6) feeling of being loved by husband/partner

Interpretation:
• minimum score: 6
• maximum score: 30
• The higher the score the greater the degree of social support.
• A score < 25 identifies a patient at risk for post-partum depression in Brisbane Postpartum Depression Index.
