Description

The height of a building may be referred to in various terms.


General terms:

(1) low-rise

(2) mid-rise

(3) high-rise

(4) skyscraper

 

Criteria for height term may be by:

(1) height in feet or meters, irrespective of number of floors

(2) number of floors (assuming a regular floor height)

where:

Some combinie low-rise and mid-rise as low-rise (not high-rise).

 

A typical story is 4.26 meters (14 feet) but there is variation. The 2 criteria for building height do not match each other.

 

While an elevator can be found in a building of any size, they become more essential the taller the building.
