Rush et al presented the CARE mnemonic to help to reduce the risk of diagnostic error. The components address issues that are relatively common reasons for making a mistake. The authors are from the University of Arkansas, University of Mississippi and Northeast Ohio Medical University.

(3) reconsider (R) the differential diagnosis
(4) enact (E) a plan
