Description

Neelapu et al developed the CARTOX-10 score to evaluate a patient with CAR (chimeric antigen receptor) T-cell-related encephalopathy. The authors are from multiple instittutions in the United States and members of the CARTOX (CAR T-cell therapy associated TOXicity) working group.


Patient selection: therapy with CAR T-cell therapy

 

Parameters:

(1) orientation to year

(2) orientation to month

(3) orientation to city

(4) orientation to hospital (or current location)

(5) orientation to president, prime minister or leader of home country

(6) ability to name first nearby object

(7) ability to name a second nearby object

(8) ability to name a third nearby object

(9) ability to write a standard sentence

(10) able to count backwards from 100 by 10's

 

The ability to do each task is scored 1 point.

 

total score =

= SUM(points for all 10 items)

 

Interpretation:

minimum score: 0

maximum score: 10

A lower score is associated with greater cognitive impairment.
