Description

Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD) may present with infection in previously healthy patients that may be caused by a wide range of organisms.


Bacterial agents:

(1) Staphylococcus aureus

(2) Burkholderia species

(3) Serratia marcescens

(4) Nocardia species

(5) Granulibacter bethesensis

(6) Chromobacterium violaceum

(7) Francisella philomiragia

 

Mycobacterial species:

(1) BCG

(2) M. tuberculosis

 

Fungal agents:

(1) Aspergillus species

(2) Paecilomyces species

(3) Zygomycete species

(4) Cladosporium

(5) miscellaneous other molds

 

Yeast:

(1) Candida species

(2) Trichosporon species

(3) Arthrographis kalrae

 

It is important to identify the causative organism so that appropriate therapy can be given.
