Description

Prolonged head ptosis as a result of alcohol and/or drug intoxication can result in neurological sequelae.


Clinical features:

(1) the patient is intoxication with alcohol and/or drugs

(2) the patient has an abnormal posture for a prolonged period with head ptosis

(3) the prolonged head ptosis causes acute intervertebral disc disruption

(4) acute mid-cervical myelopathy with:

(4a) muscle weakness including quadriparesis.

(4b) MRI abnormalities in the spinal cord

(4c) rhabdomyolysis of deep cervical muscles
