Description

Huo et al modified the Child-Turcotte-Pugh (Child-Pugh) score to evaluate patients with cirrhosis and end-stage liver disease. The authors are from National Yang-Ming University and Taipei Veterans General Hospital in Taiwan.

Parameters that are the same as in the original score:

(1) grade of hepatic encephalopathy

(2) ascites

Parameters that have been extended from the original score:

(3) serum total bilirubin

(4) serum albumin

(5) prothrombin time
