Clapper et al classified fractures involving the proximal end of the fifth metatarsal bone. The authors are from the Naval Medical Centers in San Diego, Pensacola and Corpus Christi.

heals without immobilization, usually within 4 weeks

plaster cast with weight bearing, usually within 4-6 weeks
