Type A:
(A1): fractures of the pelvis not involving the ring (avulsion of the anterior iliac spines, anterior inferior iliac spines, ischial tuberosity)
(A2): non or minimally displaced fractures of the pelvic ring
Type B: open book or lateral compression
(B1): "open book" (through symphysis pubis)
(B2): ipsilateral (fracture through pubic rami and impaction of posterior joint, same side)
(B3): contralateral "bucket handle"
Type C: vertical shear with the posterior lesion involving ligamentous disruption, fracture of the ilium, or fracture of the sacrum (involving the pelvic ring)
(C1): unilateral
(C2): bilateral
(C3): associated with acetabular fracture
