Lyme Disease is associated with a range of clinical findings over time.
Pathogen: Borrelia burgdorferi, other species
Stages of clinical Lyme disease:
(1) early localized
(2) early disseminated
(3) late disseminated
Early localized:
(1) localized erythema migrans
(2) flu-like symptoms (fatigue, headache, myalgia, arthralgia, fever)
(3) regional lymphadenopathy
Early disseminated:
(1) skin manifestations: erythema migrans with annular change
(2) neurologic symptoms (Bell's palsy, meningitis, meningoradiculoneuritis, fatigue)
(3) cardiac symptoms (myopericarditis, AV conduction defects, pancarditis)
(4) arthralgia or arthritis
(5) lymphadenopathy
Late disseminated:
(1) skin manifestations: lymphocytoma, acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans
(2) neurologic symptoms (peripheral neuropathy, encephalomyelitis, fatigue)
(3) cardiac symptoms
(4) arthralgia or arthritis
