Description

Ng et al reported the Clinical Frailty Risk Index (C-FRI) for evaluating an older adult for frailty. The authors are from the National University of Singapore, Singapore Immunology Network, and Alexandra Hospital in Singapore.

Patient selection: adult >= 55 years of age

Parameters:

(1) age in years

(2) formal education

(3) heart failure

(4) respiratory problem (asthma, COPD, etc)

(5) FEV1 to FVC ratio

(6) eGFR in mL per min per 1.73 square meters

(7) stroke

(8) depressive symptoms

(9) hearing impairment

(10) visual impairment

(11) anemia (low hemoglobin)

(12) nutritional risk score

(13) WBC count in 10^9/L

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 31

• The higher the score the greater the risk of prefrailty and frailty.
