Rabinovich et al reported a clinical prediction model for postthrombotic sydnrome (PTS). This can help to identify a patient who may require more aggressive management. The authors are from Soroka University Medical Center, Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Universite de Montreal and McGill University and are participants in the SOX Trial.
Patient selection: proximal deep vein thrombosisi
Outcome: postthrombotic score
Parameters:
(1) iliac vein deep vein thrombosis
(2) body mass index (BMI) in kg per square meter
(3) baseline Villalta score (from 0 to 27)

Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 5
• The higher the score the greater the risk of the postthrombotic sydrome.
