Conditions associated with poor school performance include:

poor visual acuity

 

medications

substance abuse

 

hypothyroidism

metabolic disorder

 

hunger

serious problems at home

 

post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

depression

being bullied

attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

boredom

laziness

 

chronic infection (tuberculosis, intestinal parasites, etc)

anemia

poor oral health

cyanotic heart disease

disordered or insufficient sleep, including sleep apnea

physical exhaustion

 

teacher discrimination

problems in the school and educational system
