Beune et al reported a consensus definition for growth restriction in a neonate. The authors are from multiple institutions from Europe, New Zealand, and the United States.
Patient selection: neonate
Criteria for growth restriction in a neonate - one or both of the following:
(1) birth weight < 3rd percentile on relevant growth chart
(2) >= 3 of the following:
(2a) birth weight from 3rd to 9.99th percentile on relevant growth chart
(2b) head circumference < 10th percentile
(2c) body length < 10th percentile
(2d) prenatal diagnosis of fetal growth restriction
(2e) maternal hypertension, pre-eclampsia or other disorder associated with growth restriction
