Sometimes alcohol consumption is given in grams of alcohol rather than standard drinks.
Parameters:
(1) number of standard drinks per day
(2) number of ounces of 100% alcohol in a standard drink (usually 0.6)
(3) density of ethanol (0.789)
(4) number of mL in one U.S. ounce (29.57)
ounces of alcohol per day =
= 0.6 * (number of standard drinks per day)
mL of alcohol per day =
= (ounces) * 29.57
grams of alcohol per day =
= 0.789 * (mL of alcohol per day)
This can be combined to
grams of alcohol per day =
= (number of standard drinks) * 14
Conversely:
mL of alcohol per day =
= (grams of alcohol) * 1.267
ounces of alcohol per day =
= (mL of alcohol per day) / 29.57
number of standard drinks per day =
= (ounces of alcohol) / 0.6 = 1.667 * (ounces of alcohol)
