The ADO (age, dyspnea, airway obstruction) Index can be used to evaluate a patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Parameters:
(1) age in years
(2) FEV1 as percent of predicted (as a measure of airway obstruction)
(3) dyspnea using the MRC scale
NOTE: The HADO Index (above) shares some of the same parameters.

ADO index =
= SUM(points for all 3 parameters)
Interpretation:
• minimum index: 0
• maximum index: 10
• The higher the index the worse the prognosis.
Purpose: To evaluate a patient with COPD using the ADO (age, dyspnea, airway obstruction) index.
Specialty: Pulmonology
Objective: risk factors, other testing
ICD-10: J44,
