Tita and Andrews listed clinical criteria for chorioamnionitis. This can help to identify a mother and neonate who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Criteria – both of the following:
(1) maternal fever (> 101°F once or > 100.4°F twice)
(2) 2 or more of the following:
(2a) uterine tenderness
(2b) maternal tachycardia (heart rate > 100 beats per minute)
(2c) fetal tachycardia (heart rate > 160 beats per minute)
