Description

The larva of Ancylostomabraziliense(dog or cat hookworm) causes cutaneous larva migrans.


Clinical features:

(1) genital pruritis

(2) penile skin shows yellowish-white serpentine track studded with tiny white papules, seen best with dermoscopy

(3) eosinophilia

(4) clinical response to oral albendazole

 

Infection occurs after exposure of skin to soil or sand contaminated with animal feces:

(1) person walking barefoot

(2) gardener

(3) child playing in a sandbox
