Liu et al reported the DAPT score for evaluating a patient who has had an acute cerebral infarction (ACI). This can help to identify a patient who may benefit from dual antiplatelet therapy (clopidogrel plus aspirin). The authors are from Nongxia Medical University and Gansu Provincial Hospital in China.
Patient selection: acute cerebral infarct, age 18 to 89 years, non-TIA
Parameters:
(1) age in years
(2) hypertension
(3) hyperhomocysteinemia
(4) percent ipsilateral carotid artery stenosis

Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 6
• A score >= 3 indicates that the patient may benefit from aspirin plus clopidogrel.
Performance:
• The area under the ROC curve is 0.78.
• The sensitivity at the cutoff is 63% with specificity 91%.
