Duration of diabetes

• any risk factors for atherosclerotic disease (smoking, hypertension, family history, abnormal lipids)?

• proliferative or preproliferative retinopathy?

• diabetic nephropathy?

• evidence of coronary artery disease or other cardiac disorder?

• evidence of peripheral vascular disease?

• evidence of cerebrovascular disease?

• autonomic neuropathy?

• renal failure?
