Hennes et al reported criteria for the diagnosis of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH). The authors are from multiple institutions from around the world participating in the International Autoimmune Hepatitis Group.
Parameters:
(1) autoantibodies (LKM = liver-kidney microsomal antibodies; SLA = soluble liver antibodies; AMA = antimitochondrial antibodies)
(2) serum IgG concentration
(3) liver histology
(4) diagnosis of viral hepatitis

Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 8
• A score of 6 indicates probable AIH.
• A score of 7 or 8 indicates definite AIH.
Performance:
• The sensitivity is 88% and specificity 97% using a score >= 6.
• The sensitivity is 81% and specificity 99% using a score >= 7.
• The area under the ROC curve is 0.95.
