Abo-Tabik et al reported diagnostic criteria for chronic plaque psoriasis. The authors are from the University of Manchester and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust.
Common sites of involvement:
(1) extensor surfaces of limbs
(2) trunk
(3) umbilicus
(4) lower back
(5) scalp along the hairline
(6) on or near the ears
(7) palms
(8) soles
Essential criterion: well-demarcated lesion with or without silvery or white scales
Supportive criteria:
(1) lesions are pink or red; may be gray in deeply pigmented skin
(2) lesions show a variation in size
(3) lesions are palpable
(4) lesions are symmetrically distributed
(5) there is a history of psoriasis in first-degree relatives
(6) nail involvement
(7) joint pain and/or stiffness
(8) itching (pruritis)
The clinical diagnosis of CPP requires:
(1) the essential criterion
(2) >= 4 of the supportive criteria
