Patient selection: pregnant woman with hyperemesis
Clinical criteria prior to clonidine or other treatment - one or both of the following:
(1) Pregnancy-Unique Quantification of Emesis (PUQE) score >= 13
(2) PUQE >= 7 (moderate HG) AND one or more of the following:
(2a) weight loss > 5% of pregravid weight
(2b) electrolyte disturbance
(2c) dehydration
(2d) symptoms lasting > 10 days
(2e) inadequate food and drink intake
where:
• For the second criterion, the reference states "any PUQE" but this could make it overly sensitive.
