The enhanced liver fibrosis panel (ELF) is a modification of the European Liver Fibrosis Panel, with removal of the patient's age as a variable.
Patient selection: chronic liver disease
Outcome: significant hepatic fibrosis
Parameters:
(1) N-terminal procollagen III propeptide (PIIINP) in ng/mL
(2) tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase 1 (TIMP-1) in ng/mL
(3) hyaluronic acid (HA) in ng/mL
discriminant score for hepatic fibrosis =
= (0.681 * LN(HA)) + (0.775 * LN(PIIINP)) + (0.494 * LN(TIMP-1)) - 7.412
Interpretation:
• A cutoff score of 0.3576 was predictive of Grade 3 or 4 fibrosis.
Performance:
• The area under the ROC curve was 0.90.
