A patient with Brugada Syndrome can participate in sports if precautions are taken.
Inheritance: autosomal dominant
Gene affected: SCN5A plus others
Clinical features may include:
(1) syncope
(2) seizures
(3) sudden cardiac arrest
Triggers include:
(1) fever
(2) drugs
(3) electrolyte abnormalities

If the patient is symptomatic or has a positive ECG, then sports participation is possible if all of the following conditions are met:
(1) patient and coaches educated on risks
(2) drug therapy initiated
(3) placement of ICD
(4) asymptomatic for >= 3 months
If the patient is asymptomatic, then sports participation is permitted after starting precautionary measures.
Body temperature should be monitored, and core temperature should not exceed 39°C. The patient should be kept hydrated and electrolyte imbalances avoided.
