A fetus that has inherited Bartter's syndrome may manifest the disease in utero.
All of the types of Bartter's syndrome except Type III can present in utero.
Findings noted durng the pregnancy:
(1) polyhydramnios, which can appear in the second trimester
(2) polyuria
(3) dehydration
(4) premature birth
(5) growth retardation
(6) nephrocalcinosis
After delivery laboratory testing on the infant will show multiple abnormal electrolytes.
