The gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) to platelet count ratio (GPR) correlates with hepatic fibrosis.
The GGT increases with hepatic injury while the platelet count decreases with splenomegaly.
Parameters:
(1) serum GGT in IU/L
(2) platelet count in 10^9/L
GGT to platelet ratio =
= (serum GGT) / (platelet count)
Interpretation:
• A ratio > 0.56 is associated with F4 liver fibrosis.
• A ratio > 0.32 is associated with F2 to F4 fibrosis.
Performance:
• The reference method for determining hepatic fibrosis impacts the accuracy of the prediction.
