Meier et al developed the Hannover II scoring system for evaluating the findings from a sentinel lymph node biopsy performed on a patient with malignant melanoma. This can help to identify a patient who may benefit from a more aggressive or novel therapy. The authors are from the Hannover Medical School in Germany.
Parameters:
(1) maximum dimension of largest deposit in mm
(2) involvement of capsule (expansion of melanoma cells into the lymph node capsule)
(3) maximum tumor penetration depth in mm
