Description

Newsum et al developed the HCV-MOSAIC score to help to identify an HIV-positive male who should be screened for hepatitis C virus (HCV). The authors are from Academic Medical Center Amsterdam, Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, the University of New South Wales and the Public Health Service of Amsterdam.


Patient selection: HIV-positive male who has sex with males

(4) injecting drug use

(5) sharing straws when snorting drugs

(6) self-reported ulcerative sexually-transmitted disease (STD)

Interpretation:

minimum score: 0

maximum score: 7.0

A score >= 2.0 was used to should be tested for HCV.

 

Performance:

The area under the ROC curve was 0.82.
