van Walraven et al reported the Hospital-patient One-year Mortality Risk (HOMR) for a predicting one-year mortality for a hospitalized patient. It consists of multiple measures that are used to generate a final score..
Patient selection: hospitalized patient >= 20 years of age
Parameters:
(1) subscore for sex, ED visits, home oxygen, admission directly to the ICU, number of admissions by ambulance, urgent 30-day readmission, living status/admission urgency + admissions by ambulance)
(2) Charlson comorbidity index and age+comorbidity
(3) admitted service
(4) diagnostic risk score
final HOMR score =
= SUM(points for all of the parameters)
Interpretation:
• minimum score: may be negative
• maximum score: may exceed 68
