Nord reported an illness severity scale that was adapted by Shah. It has 8 disease levels which is intermediate between the Karnofsky and the ECOG scales.

Limitation:
• The scale is equally divided over the spectrum of illness, while the impact is not.
• The scale is skewed towards more severe illness with good condition 1 or 2 and moderate or worse 3 to 8. There is no level between slight or moderate and no subdivisions for healthy.
