Hamam et al reported findings associated with invasive pulmonary aspergillosis in a patient in the intensive care unit (ICU). This included a listing of findings that can be seen on imaging studies. The authors are from multiple institutions in France.
Patient selection: patient in the ICU
Imaging studies: chest X-ray; CT scan of lung
Imaging findings included:
(1) air-crescent sign
(2) cavitary lesion(s)
(3) dense, well-circumscribed lesion with or without halo sign
(4) diffuse reticular and alveolar opacities
(5) non-specific infiltrates and consolidation
(6) wedge-shaped infiltrate
(7) tree-in-bud pattern (associated with panbronchiolitis)
(8) pleural fluid
