Cryopreservation of semen may be performed for a number of reasons. The need should be sufficient to justify the bother and expense.
Indications:

(2) any condition requiring therapy with drugs that could adversely affect semen
(3) a benign disease that could impair testicular function or cause impotence
(4) prior to vasectomy
(5) patient with spinal injury and impaired ejaculation
(6) a man about to undergo a mission with a high chance of death AND whose spouse wants to have children by him
Contraindications to cryopreservation:
(1) evidence of carrier status for a serious genetic disorder (such as Huntington's chorea)
(2) potential transmission of a lethal infectious disease
