A testicular biopsy may be indicated if certain conditions are present.
Indications for testicular biopsy - one or more of the following:
(1) to determine the type and severity of spermatogenic failure
(2) to differentiate between obstructive and non-obstructive azoospermia
(3) to evaluate for testicular neoplasia or carcinoma in situ
(4) to collect spermatids for cryopreservation to use in assisted reproductive technology
(5) to evaluate a patient who has failed prolonged gonadotrophin therapy in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism
