Description

The Irish Children's Triage System is used to triage pediatric patient coming to the Emergency Department.


Patient selection: abnormal blood glucose concentration or history of diabetes

 

Parameters:

(1) abnormal age-related vital signs

(2) shock

(3) Glasgow coma scale

(4) seizures

(5) blood glucose in mmol/L

(7) dehydration

(8) airway compromise

(9) respiratory failure or arrest

(10) Kussmaul breathing

(11) cerebral edema

(12) severe dehydration (>= 10%)

(13) lethargy, listless or floppy

(14) irritiable

(15) history of diabetes AND vomiting

(16) hisotry of diabetes AND diarrhea

(17) history of diabetes AND need to fast

(18) history of diabetes AND non-acute illness
