Description

The Irish Children's Triage System is used to triage pediatric patient coming to the Emergency Department.


Patient selection: airway or breathing difficulty

 

Parameters:

(1) airway compromise

(2) respiratory failure

(3) SaO2

(4) Glasgow coma scale

(5) respiratory distress

(6) vital signs

(7) silent chest

(8) drooling

(9) "tripod" positioning

(10) hemoptysis

(11) pain

(12) shock

(13) history of floppiness with pallor or cyanosis

(14) history of apnea

(15) history of smoke inhalation

(16) history of submersion

(17) central capillary refill time in seconds

(18) history of significant respiratory problem (requiring ICU admission, other)

(19) history of inhalation or ingestion of foreign body

(20) inhalation of sharp foreign body

(21) cough

(22) duration of problem
