Description

Hamamoto et al reported the Kagoshima-DVT score (KDS) for predicting the risk of deep vein thrombosis in a patient. It has been used to evaluate patients prior to surgery and in patients with gastrointestinal cancer. The authors are from Kagoshima University.

Parameters:

(1) plasma D-dimer concentration in µg/mL

(2) age in years

(3) sex

(4) ongoing glucocorticoid therapy

(5) cancer with high risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

(6) prolonged immobility
