During an intermittent infusion the maximum concentration at steady state is at the end of the infusion.
At the end of the infusion the time since the dosing interval started = the infusion period. The equation in the previous section then becomes:
plasma drug concentration at steady state levels =
= (infusion rate) / (clearance) * (1 - EXP((-1) * k * (infusion period))) / (1 - EXP((-1) * k * (dosing interval)))
