Is the patient to be exposed to elevated environmental temperatures?

Is the humidity high?

Will the patient be physically exerting her/himself?

Does the patient rest frequently and drink sufficient fluids?

• cardiovascular disease (ischemic heart disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, etc.)?

• problems with postural blood pressure?

• diabetes mellitus?

• diabetes insipidus?

• a significant renal disease?

• a pre-existing electrolyte imbalance?

• a skin condition (extensive scarring, burns, etc.) interfering with the ability to sweat?

• an anticholinergic drug?

• an antipsychotic medication?

• a major tranquilizer?
