Hernandez-Garcia et al reported a score to help differentiate multisystem inflammatory syndrome in a child (MIS-C) from sepsis. MIS-C may occur within a few weeks of SARS-CoV-2 infection. The authors are from multiple institutions in Spain.
Parameters:
(1) duration of fever in hours
(2) platelet count per microliter
(3) abdominal pain
(4) conjunctival erythema
(5) Vasoactive Inotropic Score (VIS)

Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 59
• A score > 25 is associated with MIS-C.
Performance:
• At the cutoff the sensitivity is 0.89 and specificity 0.95.
