Oostenbrink et al identified factors associated with pneumonia in a child with fever and cough. They authors are from Erasmus MC, Sophia Children's Hospital, Oxford University, University of Leicester and University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
Patient selection: 1 month to 16 years, with fever and cough in the ED
Parameters:
(1) ill-appearance
(2) tachypnea (greater than upper limit of breaths per minute for age)
(3) oxygen saturation in percent
(4) serum CRP
