(2) serum total bilirubin in µmol/L

(3) indocyanine green retention test (ICG-r15), in percent

= (0.66 * LOG10(bilirubin)) - (0.085 * (albumin))

Since ICG-r15 data is often lacking, the authors used an additional cutoff for the ALBI grade based on correlation with ICG-r15..

Miyamoto et al noted that the modified ALBI grade correlated with the endoscopic appearance of esophageal varices.
