Modified Physiological Triage Tool (MPTT)

Parameters:

(1) able to walk

(2) respiratory rate in breaths per minute

(3) heart rate in beats per minute

(4) Glasgow coma score (GCS, from 3 to 15)

score for exam findings =

= SUM(points for all 3 parameters scored)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 3

• A patient is priority 1 if the patient is unable to walk AND the exam score is >= 1.

Performance:

• The tool has a low rate of under-triage compared to other triage tools.
