Olsen et al developed the Severity of Alopecia Tool (SALT) to evaluate the degree of alopecia affecting the scalp. This can be used to monitor the response of a patient to therapy. In addition, a global assessment of overall improvement can be given.
Parameters:
(1) SALT score at baseline, prior to therapy
(2) SALT score after treatment

= ((SALT at baseline) – (SALT after therapy)) / (SALT at baseline)
