The Multidimensional Prognostic Index (MPI) can be used to evaluate an older adult. It is based on a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment 9CGA). The authors are from multiple institutions in Italy and the United States.
Parameters:
(1) activities of daily living (ADL), number out of 6 that are independent
(2) instrumental activities of daily living (IADL), from 0 to 8
(3) short mental status questionnaire (from 0 to 10)
(4) cumulative index rating scale for comorbidity (number of significant diseases present)
(5) mini-nutritional assessment (MNA), from 0 to 30
(6) Exton-Smith scale for pressure ulcers (from 5 to 20)
(7) number of medications
(8) social support network
