The prognosis for a patient with neuro-Behcet's disease may vary. The presence of certain clinical and laboratory findings may identify a patient with a worse prognosis who may benefit from more aggressive management.
Features of the attacks that are associated with a poor prognosis:
(1) multiple and frequent attacks
(2) incomplete recovery between attacks
(3) progressive disease with clinical impairment
Clinical findings associated with a worse prognosis:
(1) cognitive impairment
(2) loss of sphincter control
(3) pyramidocerebellar signs
(4) brainstem signs
Laboratory findings
(1) high CSF leukocytosis during an acute attack
