Description

The British Medical Research Council (MRC) developed a scale for grading neurologic function and deficits.


 

Parameters:

(1) extent of the neurologic deficit

(2) functional ability

where:

• A patient with Grade 3 changes may have difficulty moving limbs, moderate paresis or visual field defects.

• A patient with Grade 4 changes may be unable to use her/his limbs, have markedly reduced vision or have gross speech abnormalities.
